The protect and prevent project

Hi, my name is Kishia Miller, and I started the Protect & Prevent Project. I’m reaching out to share the heart behind it and ask if you’d consider helping us with a fundraiser.

I’m a mother of three, a healthcare worker, and a survivor of childhood abuse and a suicide attempt. These issues are personal to me. I know what it feels like to be a child who needs protection. I also know what it feels like to hurt so deeply that you struggle to see a future for yourself.

That’s why I started Protect & Prevent. I want to become the person who would have protected me when I was little, and help bring together people who will do the same for others.

Our project focuses on child abuse prevention, suicide prevention, and mental health awareness. We’re building a community of people willing to listen, speak up, and help children and families feel supported. I believe God put this on my heart, and everyone who shares that purpose is welcome to stand with us.

We recently held our first community event. It was chaotic, and we learned a lot, but seeing those kids laughing, playing, singing, and enjoying themselves meant more to me than I can explain. It reminded me why I started. Those babies deserve happy memories, people who care, and adults willing to look out for them.

I’m proud of what we’ve started, but I can’t build this by myself. We’re looking for people, businesses, and organizations willing to help us organize or host fundraisers, sponsor future events, donate supplies or raffle prizes, or help spread the word.

Our goal is to raise support for future community events, prevention and awareness materials, and activities that bring children and families together. If you’re interested, I’d love to talk through a specific fundraiser, what we would need, and what the money would support.

I’m a working mom with a story, a big heart, and a determination to turn what I survived into something that helps somebody else. I don’t have everything figured out, but I’m willing to show up and do the work.
