She’s Always There for Everyone — Now She Needs Us

One of my closest friends, and absolute angel of a human, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and I’m starting this fundraiser because I want to help take some of the financial stress off her shoulders while she focuses on getting through this.

If you know anything about the education system, you know that paraeducators do some of the most important work in our schools, while unfortunately not being paid nearly enough for everything they do. She spends her days helping kids, supporting them when they are struggling, celebrating their successes, and being one of those adults they can count on. The students aren’t the only ones who rely on her at that school — let’s be real, she is one of the most important pieces that keeps myself and that school afloat.

She is the kind of person who gives so much of herself to the children she works with. She is the one who takes the most behavior calls and deals with some of the hardest behaviors, yet she still shows up every day making sure every child feels welcomed and like they belong somewhere.

We have an impossible job, and I’ve only been able to do any part of it because I’ve had you there. You have been someone I can count on through the hard days, the crazy days, and everything in between. Now, you are the one who needs a little help.

A cancer diagnosis comes with so much more than the medical appointments. There are medical bills, prescriptions, gas to and from appointments, groceries, household expenses, and the possibility of missed work and lost income. I want to help ease some of that burden so she can concentrate on her health and healing instead of worrying about how she is going to pay for everything.

If you aren't able to donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as appreciated. Even helping this reach a few more people could make a huge difference for her.
