Retired Paramedic Needs Help Rebuilding After Domestic Abuse & Displacement

My name is Melissa Hall and after spending years serving my community as a paramedic, I find myself in a situation I never imagined: I am currently broke, homeless, and sleeping in my car with my emotional support dog, Tank.
I recently left a relationship that was mentally and physically abusive to protect my safety. With nowhere else to turn, I moved in with someone I believed was a trusted friend while I got back on my feet. Unfortunately, that trust was broken when he demanded sexual favors in exchange for shelter—and when I refused, he kicked me out onto the street.
I’m living on a fixed retirement income that simply isn’t enough to cover the immediate, upfront costs of starting over: first month’s rent, security deposits, utility connections, basic food, and essential furniture. I’m also behind on my car payments, which is terrifying because right now, this car is the only roof Tank and I have over our heads.
I have lost everything except what fits in my trunk. I’ve spent my life answering the call when others were in crisis, and today I am humbly asking for your help to rebuild ours.
