Palisades Rebuild Together

The Palisades Fire on January 7, 2025, destroyed more than 6,900 homes and other structures. More than 18 months later, the cameras are gone, but a majority of the people who lived there have yet to return home.

More than two in three of the survivors remain displaced. Nearly 40 percent have exhausted their insurance proceeds for temporary housing, or will do so soon. Renters and condominium owners, mostly middle-class families, teachers, and retirees, slip through the cracks of a disaster recovery system that is primarily designed for resourceful homeowners.

That’s why I’ve founded Palisades Rebuild Together, and our initial activities include:

Survivor Circles: monthly meetings where survivors can talk about what’s working and get answers from experts.

One-on-one counseling on insurance claims, aid applications, and access to appropriate resources.

Palisades Voices: short films where survivors can speak for themselves so their neighbors will remember them.

I'm raising $10,000 for these activities, including monthly meet-ups, outreach, and expenses for things like the website and video equipment. All contributions will be put towards the project to create a better living for our community that were victims of such a tragedy.
