One Car, Endless Opportunities for a Young Mom & Her Son

My name is Janisa. I’m 20 years old, and I’m a single mother to an amazing 2-year-old little boy who is my whole world.

I’m sharing my story because I’m trying to take the next big step toward creating a better, more stable future for my son and myself.

Being a young mom has come with challenges I never could have imagined, but it’s also given me the biggest reason to keep pushing forward.

I’m currently working, but one of my biggest struggles is balancing employment, childcare, and transportation.

I want to work more hours. I want to earn more money. I want to become financially independent. But finding affordable daycare that works with my job schedule has been incredibly difficult.

On top of that, I don’t have a vehicle of my own. Right now, I depend on Uber and Lyft just to get back and forth to work. Those expenses add up quickly, especially when I’m only able to work limited hours.

I’ve been looking into other job opportunities, but without reliable transportation and consistent childcare, it’s hard to take advantage of opportunities that could help me move forward.

One of my biggest dreams is to build a career doing hair. I want to grow my skills, create something of my own, and eventually build a career that allows me to support my son while still being present for all the little moments that matter.

I don’t expect life to be easy, and I’m not afraid of working hard. I just need a little help getting over some of the obstacles standing in my way.

That’s why I’ve decided to start this GoFundMe.

My goal is to raise enough money to purchase a safe, dependable used car. Having my own transportation would help me get to work more reliably, explore better employment opportunities, manage my son’s needs, and take steps toward pursuing my dream of doing hair.

I’m not asking anyone to build my future for me. I’m asking for a little support while I work hard to build it myself.

I know I’m young, and I know I have a lot to learn, but becoming a mother has given my life a purpose bigger than anything I could have imagined.

My son deserves stability, happiness, and a mother who never stops trying. And that’s exactly what I intend to give him.
