Invest in a Lab Scientist's Doctorate

Most people never meet the scientists behind their test results. I am one of them. I am a laboratory professional and I have been accepted into a doctoral program in healthcare leadership. Throughout my career journey, one thing has consistently driven me: I believe the laboratory is one of the most underleveraged assets in medicine, and I have spent my career trying to close that gap. My doctorate will focus on helping labs use decision-support tools, including AI, to reduce unnecessary testing and catch diagnostic errors sooner. I am unable to self-fund the program. I have hit the ceiling of what I can do without a formal doctoral framework. The questions I care about most — how do we govern AI-assisted diagnostics responsibly, how do we prevent those tools from amplifying the disparities I have seen in my own community — those questions require doctoral-level rigor. That's why I'm here. I am graciously asking for help with the $50,000 that stands between me and the degree. Better lab leadership means fewer errors, shorter waits, and safer care. A gift helps turn lab experience into better care. A gift of any size helps, and so does sharing this link privately with someone who cares about patient care.
