Mark is a dear friend who is now facing homelessness after an incredibly painful and exhausting series of events. Mark is 60 years old and lives with a disability caused by severe nerve damage in the lower back. For the last years of Mark’s father’s life, Mark served as a full-time caregiver while his father battled cancer. After his father passed away two years ago without a will, the family home was placed in probate. Mark used up personal savings trying to maintain the property and keep a roof overhead, but delays and complications kept piling up. Because the home is in a FEMA flood zone, a promised buyout was repeatedly delayed, and attempts to sell the house fell through when buyers learned about costly elevation requirements. Eventually, the property went to auction, and Mark was forced out after what is now being investigated as an unlawful eviction.

Right now, Mark needs urgent help securing a temporary place to stay and covering basic necessities while searching for a permanent home. After spending so much of life caring for family, Mark should not be left without safety or stability.
