Guardianship of Tripp

I had guardianship of Tripp when he was younger. In 2018 I adopted Tripp. Tripp is now turning 18, and I need guardianship of him again, why? Because he is nonverbal wheelchair bound and have no control of his arms to sign power of attorney. He has a rare chromosome disorder called deletion 1p36.3 (it’s very interesting if you’d like to learn about it!)
We were hoping there was a better quicker option, but unfortunately there isn’t.
Total cost is $2260, but thankfully, I found someone that would do it for half of it down ($1300 roughly) and payments on the rest! Which is a blessing!
$1300 is a lot of money to just pull out of my pocket, sorry but it doesn’t even go that deep!
People saying “you should have started sooner!” I wanted to last year but there was going to be a change in what courts asked and all attorneys wanted to wait until after the change, now I don’t know if it was just my timing or what exactly. January things changed court wise. I want to say I called on Valentine’s Day to get this process going, legal aid services. They are JUST NOW (10/5/2026) getting ahold of me and telling me they won’t be able to have it done in time. Yes I yelled at them. No I do not regret yelling. 🤣
