Beyond the Boards: Breaking Barriers in Hockey

Hockey is more than a game. It's a community, a place to grow, and an opportunity to belong. But not everyone has been given the same chance to be part of it.

For many women, girls, and LGBTQ+ athletes, the path into hockey comes with barriers. From expensive equipment and registration fees to limited playing opportunities and a lack of inclusive environments, too many athletes are left wondering whether there's a place for them in the sport they love.

We're creating Beyond the Boards Hockey Foundation to change that.

Our mission is simple: to break down barriers and create inclusive, affordable opportunities in ice hockey for women, girls, and LGBTQ+ athletes.

We believe every athlete deserves the chance to step onto the ice with confidence, develop their skills, compete, and become part of a supportive hockey community, regardless of their background, identity, or financial circumstances.

What We're Building

Beyond the Boards Hockey Foundation is being created to provide opportunities that go beyond traditional hockey programs.

Through our foundation, we aim to:

• Host inclusive hockey camps and clinics that help athletes of all ages and skill levels develop their abilities in a welcoming environment.

• Organize hockey tournaments that bring athletes and communities together through competition, sportsmanship, and shared passion.

• Provide scholarships and financial assistance to help remove the financial barriers associated with equipment, registration, and travel.

• Create mentorship opportunities that connect athletes with experienced players, coaches, and role models.

• Build a stronger hockey community where women and LGBTQ+ athletes feel represented, respected, and empowered.

Starting a nonprofit takes more than passion. It takes resources, community support, and people who believe in the mission.
