A Night Out for Debbie — Why I’m Fundraising

My name is Chet Haun, and I’ve spent more than 20 years working in the music industry as a professional guitar technician, touring with some of the biggest names in rock and country music. But before any of that, I was just a kid from Indiana who loved playing guitar and making music with his friends.

One of those longtime friends and former bandmates is now facing something no family should have to go through. His mother, Debbie Richardson, is battling cervical cancer.

Cancer is something that has touched my own life very personally. I lost my father to cancer just a couple of years ago, and I know firsthand how devastating this disease can be, not only emotionally but financially for everyone involved.

When I learned about Debbie’s situation, I wanted to do something meaningful to help.

That’s how A Night Out for Debbie was born.

On November 14, 2026, I’m returning to Indiana to reunite with old friends and musicians for a special benefit concert in Hartford City. It will be my first time performing back in Indiana in more than 20 years.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to build friendships and professional relationships throughout the music industry. I decided to reach out to some of those people and ask if they would help make this event something special.

The response has been incredible.

Artists and musicians have generously stepped forward with donations of signed instruments and rare music memorabilia, including a signed top hat from Slash and a signed guitar from Cheap Trick, along with other amazing contributions.

We’re organizing an auction and raffle to turn these incredible donations into financial assistance for Debbie and her family.

Every dollar we raise through this benefit is intended to help Debbie during one of the most difficult times of her life.

For me, this isn’t about putting on another concert. I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of hundreds of incredible shows throughout my career. This one is different.

This is about coming home, bringing people together, using the relationships I’ve built over the years, and hopefully making a real difference in someone’s life.

I can’t cure cancer. But I can pick up a guitar, call some friends, and try to help someone who needs it.

That’s what this fundraiser is all about.

Thank you to everyone who donates, bids, participates, or simply helps spread the word.
